Lucas A. Porven is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. I am continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standard to ensure my architectural work is accessible to all, regardless of ability.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Conformance Statuts

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

This portfolio is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard (specifically high-resolution architectural renderings and complex technical drawings).

Known Limitations and Alternatives

Despite my best efforts to ensure accessibility of the portfolio, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions:

  1. Architectural Drawings & Renderings: Some complex site plans or high-fidelity renderings may not have full text descriptions or may be difficult for screen readers to interpret due to technical detail. I am actively working to provide descriptive alt-text for all major project visuals.

  2. PDF Portfolios: Some older downloadable PDF versions of my portfolio may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
