HIGGINS HALL COURTYARD REMODEL
Based at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, this project begins with a hyper-accurate documentation of the Higgins Hall front courtyard, mapping the existing site down to the individual brick. This rigorous baseline informed a comprehensive site analysis that tracked weathering, solar paths, pedestrian circulation, and topographical slopes. The resulting environmental data directly shaped the design of a proposed structural canopy; utilizing an optimized truss system and strategic shading, the intervention mitigates seasonal constraints to transform the courtyard into an inviting, year-round gathering space for students, faculty, and guests.
